pagetime is an iOS app that keeps the apps you choose blocked until you photograph pages of the physical book you're reading. This policy explains what data the app handles and what happens to it. The short version: pagetime is built to know as little about you as possible.
No account, no profile
pagetime does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or location, and we do not build a profile of you.
Page photos
When you snap a page to earn time, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our verification service, which forwards it to an AI vision provider to confirm it shows a page of your physical book. This is the app's core mechanic, and it means page photos do leave your device.
- Photos are processed transiently to produce a verification result and are not stored by pagetime — our verification service is stateless and keeps no copy of your images.
- Verification requests are routed only to AI providers under data policies that prohibit retaining your images or using them to train models.
- Photos are used solely to verify your reading — never for advertising, analytics, or anything else.
Screen Time data stays on your device
App blocking is built on Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks. Your selection of blocked apps, your app usage, and your shield state are handled by iOS on your device using Apple's privacy-preserving tokens. We cannot see which apps you block or how you use your phone, and none of this information is transmitted to us.
Reading progress
Your books, page ledger, earned minutes, streaks, and reading stats are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, they are deleted with it.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive your payment details. To validate your subscription and manage entitlements, purchase receipt information may be processed by our subscription infrastructure provider. Manage or cancel any subscription in your Apple Account settings.
AI disclosure
Page verification is performed by artificial intelligence. AI can make mistakes; if a legitimate page is rejected, snap it again or contact us.
Children
pagetime is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Data deletion
Because we keep no copy of your photos and store your reading data only on your device, deleting the app removes your data. If you believe we hold anything connected to you, write to us and we will resolve it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the current version will always be at this address with an updated effective date.
